Fender Telecoustic '03 - Candy Apple Red

2003 Fender Telecoustic - Candy Apple Red

fender-telecoustic---car.jpgThis is an accoustic/electric guitar made by Fender. Candy Apple Red Metallic, Bound body. This guitar is fully original. It has composite (fiberglass) back and sides with a spruce wood top and bracing. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard and Fender Classic 4 by Fishman  preamp with eq. It is very well made. You can feel its durability when you hold it.

This guitar is very light weight. It plays pretty good and has a decent but somewhat bright accoustic sound when not played through and amp. When you put this guitar through and accoustic amp It really comes to life!

fender-telecoustic-2003---car---kopie.jpgThe Fishman pickup and electronics (9 volts) work really well. Because this guitar has a real Telecaster neck it makes it a great instrument for whatever style of music you play, but Is also supprisingly gig worthy when amplified to use it as an acoustic guitar replacement. This makes a great back up to my Takamine guitars I own.

fender-telecoustic-2003---car.....---kopie.jpgI adjusted the truss rod and intonation, lowered the nut slots, tightened the tuning keys, vacuumed the interior, cleaned and oiled the fretboard, lowered the string action at the saddle, and installed a new set of D'addario 10-through-47 strings - Phosphor Bronze - on it. The difference: Night and Day. It feels perfect now and sounds terrific.

String choice can help this alot! I use Phosphor Bronze D’addario EJ15 0.10-0.47 or Phosphor Bronze D’addario EJ26 0.11-0.52 accoustic strings on this one. It definitely sounds like a more expensive guitar to play, having plenty of bottom end when you dig in with a pick, the top end sounding sweet.

fender-telecoustic-2003---car..---kopie.jpgThe construction quality is pretty good actually. After all these years (2003 – now) the tuners still hold very good, It has shown minimal fret wear even it has been played a lot. The electronics are all still good, and the Candy Apple Red  finish on the wood is holding up nicely. Having said all this, I am very happy with the overall package, it doing exactly what I want it to do.
